Geo-thermal Heating and
Cooling has arrived at Workman Dental!
Needing to upgrade the
heating and cooling system in our building led Dr. Workman
to consider the environmental and long-term cost advantages of
geo-thermal technologies. After a few months of planning and a great
deal of work, we're pleased to announce that the system is online.
Kelly Shoudy and the team at
Air Comfort Inc. in Cedar Rapids designed and installed the new system.
Take a look below for some of the behind the scenes pictures of the old
and new equipment and a quick description of how it works. You can learn
more about geothermal technology at this
Alliant Energy Website.
FOR
SALE!
The previously used air-handlers and pneumatically controlled
heating and cooling equipment are for sale. If you or anyone you know is
interested in purchasing this equipment, you can
view the items and prices.

and After.

It's all about having connections!

Outside, in the back of the building, are the connections to the
underground pipes where the constant temperatures of the earth
are used to heat and cool the building.

Here's a wider look at the back of the building. The area
was excavated to bury the heat-exchanging piping.
(Note that the previous, close-up photo is the area just
to the right of the door at the left of this photo.)
Fluid circulates continuously inside the buried pipe,
absorbing heat from the earth during the winter for use inside.
In warmer months, the fluid takes heat from indoors
and transfers it back into the earth.
